James Thomas founded Thomas Energy, Inc. in 1993. Having been employed as an in-house landman in Wichita, he recognized the need in Kansas for a company that was not only effective at buying leases but also emphasized precision when examining mineral and leasehold titles. Since then, Thomas Energy has been committed to excellence in those areas and all other facets of land work.
Over the years, Thomas Energy has successfully completed all kinds of projects. We have leased townships, town lots, and tracts with more than 100 mineral owners. We have performed field and in-house due diligence on production purchases ranging from one well to hundreds. We have also run mineral and leasehold titles for a wind energy company. James Thomas, President
James has enjoyed being a landman for 42 years. He first worked as a field landman for three years, learning to run titles and leases in Montana, Oklahoma, Iowa, and Colorado. For the next eight years, James was employed as a landman at Texaco Inc. in Denver, and as a landman and land manager at Petroleum, Inc. in Wichita. His experience with exploration companies makes him unique among Kansas lease brokers.
James was a Certified Professional Landman for 32 years. He is a past president of the Wichita Association of Petroleum Landmen. James has also served on the board of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. He holds an A.B. in Management Science from Duke University.
James is an active member of the Wichita community, having served as a board member for the Wichita Symphony. He is also a member of the Downtown Rotary Club of Wichita.
